Flight reservation for a visa application from Egypt

Almost every visa application submitted from Egypt asks for a flight itinerary, and almost none of them ask you to have paid for the flight. That distinction is the whole point of this page: consulates want to see the shape of your trip, not proof that you have already spent the money. This guide covers what is normally asked for in Cairo, what an unticketed reservation can do, and where it stops.

What is usually required

Schengen applications submitted in Cairo — Italy, Germany, Spain, France, Austria and the rest — are handled through visa centres on behalf of the consulate. The document checklist normally asks for a round-trip travel itinerary or flight reservation showing your intended entry and exit dates, consistent with your accommodation booking and the dates on your application form.

Several consulates explicitly advise applicants not to buy a ticket before a decision is issued. A refusal would leave you with a fare you cannot always recover.

Turkey, the Gulf and onward destinations generally follow the same pattern: an itinerary is enough at the application stage, while an airline may check onward travel at check-in when you actually fly.

Checklists differ between consulates and change over time. Read the current requirements published by the consulate or visa centre handling your application, and follow those rather than any general advice, including ours.

How a ValidFlight reservation helps

We place an unticketed reservation with an airline in your name for the route and dates your application needs, and send you the booking reference (PNR), the flight details and a PDF itinerary by e-mail. Airlines differ in what they publish online: many do not show a reservation in their “Manage booking” tool until a ticket is issued, so the reference may return nothing there. That does not mean the reservation is missing — it is held in the airline's own system, and the PDF itinerary is the document to present. Prices start from €10.90.

Routes our customers book most often from Cairo are Milan, Frankfurt, Madrid, Düsseldorf, Paris and Vienna for Schengen applications, and Istanbul, Antalya, Doha, Almaty and Bangkok for other destinations.

What it will not do:

Timing tips

What it is not

A reservation is not a flight ticket. It is unpaid, carries no e-ticket number and cannot be used to board a flight. It is not a visa, it does not improve your chances of getting one, and it must never be presented as a paid ticket. Once your visa is issued, buy the ticket you will actually travel on.

Do Schengen consulates in Cairo accept a flight reservation instead of a ticket?

Checklists normally ask for a travel itinerary or flight reservation rather than a purchased ticket, and several consulates advise against buying a ticket before a decision. Requirements differ by consulate and change, so follow the checklist for the country you are applying to.

Should I buy the ticket before my visa is approved?

Most consulates advise against it, because a refusal can leave you with a fare you cannot fully recover. An itinerary at the application stage and a ticket after approval is the usual sequence.

How long is the reservation valid?

Typically 24 to 72 hours, depending on the airline. The 7-day and 14-day plans renew it automatically and e-mail you a new booking reference each time.

Does a flight reservation improve my chances of getting a visa?

No. It satisfies a document requirement, nothing more. The decision rests on your whole application and is made by the consulate.

Can I use the reservation to travel?

No. It is not a ticket and cannot be used to board. Buy a real ticket for the flight you take.
