What the consulate asks for

A Schengen visa application generally requires a travel itinerary showing your planned entry and exit, alongside accommodation, insurance and proof of funds. Many consulates state explicitly that you should not buy a ticket before the visa is granted, because a refusal leaves you with a ticket you cannot use.

What this means in practice:

• An itinerary is not a ticket. Consulates ask to see a plan, not a purchase. A reservation with a real booking reference shows the same dates, route and passenger details.
• The dates must match the rest of your application. Insurance, accommodation and the stated purpose should agree with the itinerary.
• Requirements differ by consulate. The Spanish consulate in Havana may ask for something slightly different from another Schengen state.

Timing

• Standard reservation: order it so it is live on the day it will be checked. If that day is further off, tell us the date and we create it the evening before.
• 7-day or 14-day plan: for a processing window whose exact day you do not know. We create a fresh booking each time the previous one is released and e-mail you the new PNR — always use the latest one.
• Keep the PDF offline on your phone and bring a printed copy.

What it is not

A ValidFlight reservation is not a flight ticket. It is unpaid, has no e-ticket number and cannot be used to board any flight. It is not a way around entry rules and must never be presented as a paid ticket. If you are asked directly whether you hold a ticket, answer truthfully. To actually travel to the Schengen area you need a real ticket.

What happens if the visa is refused?

Nothing is owed for the flight, because the reservation was never paid. It is simply released.

Can I use the reservation to travel?

No. It is not a ticket. Once your visa is granted you buy a real ticket for the flight you take.
